It sounds gross – but a friend said it does wonders for you. Any takers? Anyone have experience here?

A colonoscopy a medical procedure. A cleanse you can do yourself.

I think you mean colonic, not colonoscopy (a test where they sedate you and examine your colon for cancer and polyps, reccomended for older people regardless of diet).

I’ve heard that colon cleanses are just a bunch of psyllium and don’t really do anything for you…you can get psyllium husks at grocery stores and mix them into a smoothie and save the money on the pricey colon cleanse. Colonics are bad for you too….they can send germs up higher into your colon and increase your risk of cancer.

Nah, that’s BS from a technical standpoint. If you feel like it would do you good, it might make you feel better, though. Realistically, just eat lots of shredded wheat and other high fiber sources (Kashi cereals come to mind). Making those a part of your regular diet will do more for you in the long run.

Your system is perfectly tuned to take care of these things without intervention. I don’t think it necessary or healthy to mess with it. Gross… yes. I am not into things **** and when I say that I mean by any stretch of the imagination.

Interesting idea but it never occured to me @ the time I went veg. My body did go through a spontaneous cleansing process when I stopped eating meat. Took about 2 weeks.

If a person eats right, there is no need for anything so invasive. The best way to cleanse is to drink enough water.
